Call for Article Manuscript for a Special Issue On Tanzania’s Development Pathway: Sixty Years After Independence


The year 2021 marks sixty years since Tanzania mainland’s attainment of political independence. Throughout the period, Tanzania has passed into different phases of development, attempted innumerable interventions and discourses. These included the series of “development alternatives” to fight poverty, hunger and infectious diseases.  To this far, sixty years, Tanzania has definitely registered socio- economic and political development. As we commemorate sixty years of independence, there is a lot that we are proud of, as a country. It is in this context that, the Sub-Saharan Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (SJSSH) of the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) invites original manuscripts for publication consideration under the “Special Issue” with the theme, Sixty Years after Tanzania’s Political Independence: Reflections, Realities and the Way-forward for Development”. 

The manuscripts should be based on empirical studies, review articles, case studies, book reviews, policy briefs and short communications in the areas of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Demography
  • Environmental and natural resources management
  • Economic management
  • Language and education
  • Human geography
  • History
  • Political science
  • Public administration
  • Population studies
  • Sociology
  • Agriculture and livestock development (agricultural technologies development, market & price for agricultural produce; linkages between agriculture & industrial sector)
  • Rural studies/rural development approaches
